Image by Hawk Eyes via FlickrLate last month at a nightclub, Cedric Benson was asked to take pictures with some female fans. A man approached Cedric and objected to him posing for pictures with the women. Cedric explained that he had been asked to pose with the women and the man punched Cedric. An altercation followed and while Cedric was leaving the club, he was approached by another man aggressively. Believing this man was a friend of the man who had punched him; Cedric attempted to protect himself and continued out of the club. Immediately upon leaving the club, Cedric called the police. He was interviewed by the police and left the area.
Two weeks ago while he was in Cincinnati, Cedric was contacted by a detective investigating the incident in Texas. Apparently, the second man who approached Cedric is an employee of the night club and claimed that Cedric punched him.
Cedric agreed to be interviewed upon his return to Texas and provided his return date. Cedric was not contacted by the detective upon his return. This morning Cedric received a telephone call advising him that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Cedric voluntarily made himself available, was taken into custody, and was released earlier today after posting bond.
Upon his release, Cedric contacted Coach Marvin Lewis and the Commissioner’s office to notify the Cincinnati Bengals and the NFL of these events. Though we adamantly dispute that Cedric committed a crime, Cedric will continue to cooperate with law enforcement, the Bengals and the NFL in their investigation of these events.
Wm. David Cornwell, Sr.
There you have it. Innocent! Case Closed. HAHA!

It seemed as if the Cincinnati Bengals were really doing a Tony Dungy like job with these guys until Benson's latest brush with the law. See his latest blunder click here. But really Michael Vick??? I know it is just speculation and rumor on my part but take a gander at this! Before Vick agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles our friends over at CincyJungle.com reported that the Bengals offered Vick 2 years worth 2.3 million. So it is not far fetched to think that King Brown of Misfit Island will reach out to another Misfit player.
And it is not at all a bad idea. I know you heard me right! Not a bad idea!! If Governor Goodell does not bring the rain against Vick. Look at what we have at QB going into 2010. Compliments of Bengals.com
-Threw for 3,094 yards with 21 TD's and a 83.6 passer rating
-Threw for 40 yards with no TD's and a 47.5 passer rating. HE THREW THE BALL 11 times!
-Yea, didn't get to any games but did a darn good job holding that clipboard!!
So we have the same group as last year. We did not address a back up in free agency. We did not pick up a quarter back in the draft. If Carson goes down. Do we really think J.T. is going to carry us to the promise land? No disrespect J.T. I loved the spark you showed in San Francisco at times but so far we haven't seen that. So would looking to Vick, if he does not get a life long ban from the NFL, in the works for the Bengals? I wouldn't put it past them!! And I somewhat don't blame them!!!

Next in line, Cedric Benson, of the Cincinnati Bengals in the latest arrest list. Arrests that has cast a dark shadow over the Cincinnati Skyline. Arrests that has made the Cincinnati Bengals the joke of the league. The "Adoption Center" for the NFL Rebels that nobody wants.
The recent arrest occurred today for a misdemeanor assault for allegedly punching a bar employee in the face almost a month ago in Texas. Benson posted bail, $5,000, and looks to face a max penalty of $4,000 in fines and a possibility of a year in jail. According to reports, Benson, at Annie's West Bar in Austin, Texas, got into an altercation with another patron and the bartender and staff had to escort Benson out. Once outside Benson assaulted the bartender.
Benson, has not released his statement as of yet, citing it is inappropriate to comment at this time.
The Bengals recruitment of players is like facing a par 4 hard dog leg left over the woods. The signings are risk and reward. The Bengals choose to pull out the "Big Driver" and go for the green instead of the smarter choice of pulling out the 3 wood and hitting a safe shot to the fairway. These signings include the likes of Cedric Benson, Tank Johnson, Adam "Pacman" Jones, and Matt Jones. And draft choices, Dunlap and even running back Bernard Scott.
I am all for second chances, believe you me! But at some point in time there has to be a time where we go after more than just one quality free agent, aka, Antonio Bryant. Then NFL players in general are going to have to understand there is this HUGE target on their back and they have to understand to steer clear of opportunities that can affect their career.
Since, the Bengals has pulled out the "Big Driver" on players like these the risk is going to be how long Commissioner Goodell will punish these individuals that have already had brushes with the law.

News is obviously spreading like wildfire about the diagnosis of Chris Henry. Whitworth has expressed his opinion to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer and Cincinnati.com. There will be plenty more I am sure and we will keep you posted with what the NFL players and executives are saying. This will be an ever growing issue of CTE and how it is going to affect the future of the NFL and other contact sports!
